Do Athletes Perform Better If They Use CBD? Is It Even Legal?

The United States Anti-Doping Association (USADA) recently came out with new findings and rules on CBD for Olympic Athletes.

The USADA defines itself as “USADA is the national anti-doping organization in the U.S. for Olympic, Paralympic, & Pan American Sport, protecting clean athletes & the integrity of sport.”

If history is any indication, these new rules will flow down to all other sports which drug test, including the NFL.

CBD for Athletes Rules Summary

1.) US Olympic Athletes can use certain types of CBD.

2.) CBD helps Athletes Recover Quicker from a hard workout.

3.) US & International Athletics allow CBD, but will not allow any other Cannabinoids or THC in your body.

This makes Stirling CBD safe for Athletes, including U.S. Olympians! Any Full Spectrum / Board Spectrum CBD taken will fail the USADA drug test and get the athlete removed from professional or college sports.

Below I will outline the specifics of these points and explain the science behind these statements. Of course, education is important. Stirling CBD Oils does extensive research when writing about CBD Oil, and we have found a number of U.S. Government Agencies which have studied CBD’s effects on athletes and athletic competition.

The USADA is one of those agencies, and they have powerful say over the rules and regulations of ALL athletes, whether they get drug tested or not. We wanted to share our research and findings  from the USADA.

In this article, one of my main sources of information is from the United States Anti-Doping Agency:

Is CBD Prohibited in U.S. Sports?

No, the chemical compound cannabidiol is not prohibited (Meaning it is legal!).

The USADA actually mentions it helps athletes recover.

However unless you get a 3rd party tested CBD brand like Stirling Oils – the USADA itself mentions “it is very difficult, if not impossible, to obtain a pure CBD extract or oil from the cannabis plant.”

Anyone who buys a Full Spectrum Oil, Broad Spectrum Oil, or other CBD product should be aware that it will be a mixture of CBD and other cannabinoids.

All other cannabinoids, including THC and the more than 115 other identified cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, as well as all synthetic cannabinoids, are prohibited in competition.

You will fail a drug test in the sport unless you buy your CBD from Stirling  CBD or another very trusted source that makes their products from Isolate.

When you buy a Full-Spectrum or Broad Spectrum CBD from another company, it is important to know that THC and many other Cannabinoids can stay in your body long after you have used the CBD.

When choosing to use any substance that is prohibited in competition, athletes should be aware that complete washout of those substances and their metabolites cannot be easily predicted.

If you’re an athlete, make sure your product is from CBD Isolate and has 0% THC – Like Stirling CBD. We use CBD Oil with 0% THC and 0% other Cannabinoids. This is the purest CBD for sale in the US and one of the best-selling CBD Oils. As we make our oils from Isolate, it is completely safe and legal in U.S sports.

Why Should Athletes Take CBD?

#1 – CBD FOR BACK & JOINT RELIEF

Scientists are still trying to determine exactly how CBD oil might provide relief from body aches.

However, there’s evidence that cannabidiol may affect the body’s endocannabinoid system (a complex system of cell-to-cell communication) and reduce work-out-induced redness or swelling.

Along with contributing to brain functions like memory and mood, the endocannabinoid system influences how we experience pain.

Athletes use Stirling Oils to improve performance, get relief, and recover quicker. When you buy CBD or Hemp Oil Online, make sure it is Stirling to get the quality you need.

#2 – CBD FOR JOINTS

Joint Stress and oxidation stress are intimately involved in the genesis of many human diseases. This relationship has been difficult to unravel, as joint stress and oxidative stress “feed off” each other making a vicious circle.

However, CBD would seem to be a promising starting point for further drug development given its anti-oxidant and joint pain relief actions on immune cells. The research on the medical application of CBD is expanding dramatically, and with good reason.

As a natural, plant-derived anti-cartilage pain fighter, CBD joins other familiar players in this arena like turmeric (which is derived from curcumin), as well as ginger, and many others.

#3 – CBD FOR JOINT PAIN IN THE HANDS & KNEES

According to Medical News Today, studies suggest that CBD could help with age-related joint pain.

Two specific areas of focus include aches and temporary pain caused by work-out.

A situation that commonly affects the hands and feet and leads to painful, swollen, and stiff joints.

Also, it helps with issues that affect cartilage and bones, causing pain and stiffness.

It often affects the hip, knee, and thumb joints. When shopping for CBD online, make sure it is tested for purity.

#4 – CBD for Recovery

Every time we do physical activity, our body breaks itself down. When it does, we need to build itself back up as quickly as possible. This is the key to athletic performance. This results in our body’s immune response healing itself leaving us feeling sore, exhausted, and lethargic. Dealing with post-workout pain is difficult and makes us not want to go to the gym the next day.

The good news is that the Cannabinoid receptors include CB1 and CB2. CB1 is predominantly found in the brain, and CB2 receptors are in cells linked to the immune system. The good news is that both of these receptors have been found on our body’s immune cells. Scientists believe that CBD plays an important vital role in the regulation of the immune system, creating homeostasis within the body. Several studies have shown that CBD plays a huge role in suppressing cytokine, and chemokine production, while increasing our body’s T-regulatory cell production, in turn, helping our body’s anti-pain mechanism.

#5 – CBD TO REDUCE OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS

CBD has shown a lot of promise in fighting the overuse of pills.

In addition, a number of pre-clinical studies, suggest CBD might be useful as a relief therapy in place of other, less appealing medications.

Is CBD Legal in the US?

If a CBD preparation or extract is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3 percent THC, then it is not considered a controlled substance at the federal level.

However, according to a statement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it is still unlawful to sell CBD in dietary supplements, and it’s unlawful for companies to market CBD to treat or cure diseases or psychiatric issues. While the FDA has issued numerous warning letters to companies selling cannabidiol who market markets their products to treat diseases and illnesses.

It is illegal to make claims – only FDA-approved drugs that have been proven to be effective in controlled clinical trials are allowed to make such claims.

In conclusion – only FDA-approved CBD can say it helps people.

Many athletes are desperate for relief that will not hinder their endurance, strength, or recovery. With numerous other options that have harmful side effects, Stirling CBD has quickly become a staple in the industry.
