Wait, what? The same Govt. that has kept CBD illegal for 100 years?
Yes, it is true! There is a U.S. CBD Patent
The Patent was issued to the U.S. Government under the Dept. of Health and Human Services. The CBD Patent was originally filed in 1999 and awarded a patent in 2003 – almost 20 years ago.
The United States federal government holds the patent on non-psychoactive cannabinoids — including CBD, as a treatment for specific illnesses.
Let’s Start with a Quick Disclaimer
To be honest, the US Patent on CBD clearly states things that I can not repeat – it would be illegal for me to make any claims not approved by the FDA for fear of repercussions from the same Government that made the Patent.
But Believe me, it says some pretty amazing things.
Stirling is not saying the claims on the U.S. CBD Patent are true, nor can we claim Stirling CBD can help with any of the medical issues the Patent Claims – we would get in a lot of trouble if we did. We will not make any of these claims and will censor some of the languages, but you will get the picture.
Only the U.S. Govt. and big Pharmaceutical Companies can make these Claims – and to be fair to the FDA they are fighting a lot of unscrupulous CBD companies making false claims and not making CBD products in a clean, FDA registered facility.
So the FDA is trying to do some good. However, it still is interesting that companies can not even repeat what the Govt. says on their own website.
With this said – Stirling is simply quoting the specific U.S. Patent #. We can / will not copy the language. Stirling CBD is not adding any additional scientific data or antidotal information to the quote. We do not claim Stirling CBD has any of these benefits.
What Does the CBD Patent Say?
It says things like “cannabinoids are useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases.
Even more amazing is that the U.S. patent specifically details diseases and conditions that CBD improves. Sorry I can’t mention the illness – but you can check it out for yourself. I have a link coming up soon!
Most of us know people who have had severe mental and physical diseases, and now we must wonder if these people had access to CBD, could it have helped them? We will never be able to answer this – but it is a good question. Once again, these are not the opinion or medical advice of Stirling CBD.
Who Researched and Developed the CBD Patent?
The inventor of the patent was a former Research Fellow at National Institute for Mental Health Aidan Hampson. Aidan spent his career researching cannabis for medical use.
According to his LinkedIn Profile, Hampson was mentored by Nobel Laureate Julius Axelrod. This is an interesting team, as Axelrod’s research led to the development of Prozac.
Putting it simply, the same guy which helped develop Prozac worked with one of his students to test CBD and eventually patent it.
What makes this even more interesting is that Prozac made billions in profits, while he never made CBD into a commercially available medicine. Is it because it was nowhere near as profitable?
CBD Patent Implications
Indeed, Journalist and Oregon NORML activist Angela Bacca said the U.S. patent of medical uses for cannabinoids has shown the hypocrisy of federal marijuana prohibition and the greed of big pharma.
“This patent shows that federal marijuana prohibition is a farce,” said Bacca. “[Prohibition] only exists to create profits for certain groups of people.”
Even Leaders of the Industry Don’t Deny the Hypocrisy in Patent No. 6,630,507
By classifying marijuana as a Schedule I drug (marijuana is, not CBD from Hemp), it means that all parts of the plant are deemed unsafe for consumption, according to the DEA and US government.
Yet, the US government has a patent on synthetic cannabinoid drugs derived from marijuana, which are then being approved by the FDA.
Maybe it is dangerous because it would eat the profits of big companies. If it treats all those conditions it says in the patent, why is the govt. saying it is dangerous?
Legalizing CBD or Cannabis in general in the United States would instantly change the distribution of profits.
Many people and companies would be filing for patents and racing to corner the market.
Large Pharmaceuticals Companies and other current patent holders would be up against competition instead of having the industry nearly all to themselves, which would cut into both their own profit and the profit the government.
Pretty amazing stuff, and some evidence that top U.S. Govt. scientists have a strong belief in CBD’s ability to improve people’s lives and health.
There is a Specific U.S. Patent.
So this begs the question, what can we do about it? Should we do something about this? Is this a situation we should just accept? Can we do nothing about the Govt.?
Since we are in the U.S. we can let them know that this is wrong and work to invoke change. Tell your congressperson and the DEA how you feel.
Whether you prefer to give them the hand or the finger, bringing awareness to this hypocrisy will show the government that we know what is going on and we want to make 100% certain CBD is available to the public and not held down and by big companies. The craziness will continue until we let these facts come to light.
